Roe Knows Best – Muscle Memory

Roe Knows Best is the solo project of Nutley, NJ based singer/songwriter Rosanna O’Brien aka Roe. Muscle Memory is 5 tracks of pop-punk excellence; featuring a multitude of instrumentation and delightfully distinctive phrasing. Roe Knows Best has been known in their local NJ scene for live shows brimming with talented and varied vocal range as well as technical ability, and interesting online challenges such as their very own song shop. Muscle Memory is the long-awaited follow up to a collection of Unreleased Demos which was put out in 2016.

Rosanna has been writing songs since the age of 12 and has been putting out music since 2011 with her initial release “Roe’s Demoe”. Pulling inspiration from early 2000’s pop-punk this latest release is comparable to many well established bands such as Motion City Soundtrack, Saves The Day, and Say Anything. Released on May 20th 2020 “Muscle Memory” was recorded at the Den in Woodland Park by producer engineer Matt Maroulakos. Roe Knows Best generously donated 100% of the first week’s proceeds of EP sales to the World Health Organization; an organization that many believe are leading the world in the fight against Covid-19.

The EP begins with “No Wonder She’s Alone” the track begins with only voice and guitar and breaks out into a spirited pop-punk anthem. Following up is our favorite track from this release, “Gotta Get Out” which is our current song of the week. The third track “I’m feeling lost” is a song that easily gets stuck in your head. The EP mellows out in the last 2 tracks “Talk Me Down” and “All Your Books” are each gentle, introspective, and melodic.

This Ep is jam-packed with cleverly written songs and diverse instrumentation.  Muscle Memory by Roe Knows Best is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, and other digital stores.
