Mad Indie Media Monthly Playlist
We started back in 2020 with two playlists The Indie Attic, our home for the chill, melodic, and danceable, and The Grunge Garage, our corner for the loud, aggressive, and unhinged. Over time we realized the music we love doesn’t fit neatly into two boxes. It never really did. So we built one playlist to hold all of it.
Mad Indie Media Monthly is where you will find a typically eclectic list of independent music. One month you might find math rock rubbing shoulders with lofi hip-hop. The next it’s folk sitting next to doom metal. That’s not an accident, good music is good music.
We listen to everything that comes through our submissions page(seriously) because we genuinely love discovering new and exciting music. Digging through a pile of new music from independent artists all over the world and finding something that you identify with is one of the best feelings there is. Every submission gets a real listen from real people who care about music.
The playlist spans every genre we love and as people who grew up listening to world music and WFMU religiously we love a lot of them. Indie, rock, folk, punk, pop, math rock, hip-hop, hardcore, ska, chillwave, synthpop, EDM, metal, doom, grunge, R&B, jazz, rockabilly, emo, lofi, post-hardcore, metalcore, goth, new wave, blues, soul, pop-punk, world music, industrial, rocksteady, swing, merengue, bachata, polka and really any type of music that moves us.
Music featured will vary and span many different genres, artists any styles of music. Keeping the flow going in each one of our lists we carefully curate each song and band.
