The band teases the album first with the new southern-rock inspired single “Come On”. The energetic opening riff will captivate the listener with a distinct yet familiar rock sound with a southern tinge. We can just see ourselves partying on a farm somewhere, spinning some bootleg booze and rocking out to this song outlaw style.

The second single teasing the May 3rd release is “No Bond No Bail”. The song opens with a funky/jammy somewhat subdued riff combined with soulful blues-style singing. A survival song at its core “No Bond No Bail” is filled with interesting drum transitions and phrases followed by an absolutely face melting guitar solo.

Although the 2 singles are substantially different from one another the band’s jam-based roots shine though in both tracks. Mike Smith Group displays their range in song writing with each of these singles showcasing the provocative, dynamic sound. The album is expected to touch on many different captivating styles within the rock/alt-rock umbrella. Mike Smith Group’s blues/rock is steeped in psychedelia and soul.

We had interviewed Mike Smith Group a few years back on a segment called Brunch with Boris check out the interview below:

Self-proclaimed gear nerd Mike Smith (Check out his pedal board) believes in the power of community; playing in multiple groups and collaborating with many musicians in the NJ and CT areas. Much like us, Mike is all about networking. Community is one of the musician’s biggest assets after all.

The gear aspect of Mike Smith Group’s playing is apparent with signature modulation and sound manipulation; each guitar solo has its own unique effect and style. Clearly knowing their way around the fretboard, the playing of Mike Smith Group is just as impeccable as their songwriting skills.

The band will celebrate their release with a show at the famous John & Peter’s bar in New Hope Pennsylvania, the same bar Ween calls home. The band will play 2 sets including all of the hot, rippin’ and righteous tunes available on Wallkill Crisp.
