Ghost in the Willow | Have A Nice Day | Music Video of the Month | October 2026
Our October 2026 Music Video of the Month comes from Phoenix indie/punk-rock outfit Ghost in the Willow, for their track Have A Nice Day off their 2026 album Still Here. Directed by Eric Cannon, who also helmed the band’s previous video for Flick of the Wrist, the video is a raw, emotionally charged piece of work that hits as hard as the song underneath it.
Ghost in the Willow occupy a compelling space between punk and heartland rock, with a sound that pulls from the best of both without feeling married to either specific genre. Based in Phoenix, the band has just completed its third West Coast tour.
Still Here arrived back in March of this year and is the bands lengthiest release yet. Ghost in the Willow has been putting out music since 2017 offering listeners their signature brand of emotionally charged, blue-collar rock & roll.
Have A Nice Day is not the kind of song that lets you keep a comfortable distance. the concept is one that anyone who has spent time in transactional spaces: service industry, hospitality, the general performance of being okay; will recognize immediately. As the band explained on Instagram: “It’s about trying to connect with someone in a place that isn’t built for sincere emotional connection; meeting people who are kind and friendly, but where everything still carries some kind of cost, even if it’s not financial. Over time, that can take a mental toll and blur the line between what’s real and what’s just performance.”
That’s a lot to carry in a punk song. Ghost in the Willow carries it without breaking a sweat.
Ghost in the Willow – Have a Nice Day – October 2026 Music Video of the Month
The track sits comfortably in that tradition of blue-collar, emotionally honest rock that fans of Against Me!, Hot Water Music, The Gaslight Anthem, and Spanish Love Songs will know well. It’s the kind of music that doesn’t ask you to feel something, it just does the work for you and the feeling shows up on its own.
Eric Cannon captures the band’s live energy with an immediacy that makes Have A Nice Day feel less like a music video and more like documentation of a blue collar everyman. There is nothing precious about this video and that is entirely the point. The raw performance footage leans into the song’s themes of authenticity versus performance in a way that feels almost confrontational. If the song is about the exhausting cost of maintaining a friendly face in spaces that don’t reward sincerity, the video answers that by stripping (see what we did there) everything back and letting the band just be the band.
Ghost in the Willow is a harder-to-categorize live act than most; they bring a violin and a full horn section to the stage alongside the standard rock setup, and that live show energy seeps into every frame here. This isn’t a band trying to look cool on camera. They’re a band that has something to say and enough stage miles behind them to say it with authority.
Their 2026 album Still Here is out now on all streaming platforms. If Have A Nice Day is where you’re starting, you won’t want to stop there. For more information visit Ghost in the Willow at their website.
