Weekly Feature | Tent City Records – Public Serpents/Escape From The Zoo

The latest release from Tent City Records is the new Public Serpents/Escape From The Zoo split. The brutal 4 track split includes 2 songs from each band. This split delivered exactly the crusty sounds that make the homebums rejoice and the oogles crack a parent-sponsored 40 oz. The ferocious 4 track split is nearly 10 minutes of premium, high-energy punk music full of demonic growls, uptempo ska/punk riffs, horns, and heavy breakdowns.

Public Serpents is an NJ based ska/punk band spawn from the crack rock steady scene in NYC in the ’90s and early 2000s; composed of members of other ska, punk, and ska-core bands Fat Chance, the Upfux, and Choking Victim. Escape from the Zoo is a folk-punk 4-piece out of Houston, Texas led by singer/songwriter Jesse Sendejas of Days N Daze. Both bands are featured on our weekly playlists. The split was released as a 7inch vinyl and is available on Bandcamp for a purchase of $5 dollars or more.

The music video for Crust Punk Girl, a song which pays homage to The Dead Milkmen’s “Punk Rock Girl”, was released on 4/20 and was shot by Punk with a Camera. This video features some trippy animations inter-spliced between classic lower-east side punk spots like C-squat and Tompkins Square Park mixed with scenes of violent murderous outrage.  Punk With a Camera has been filming among the national punk scene for years creating music videos and live sessions for bands such as King Strang, Harley Poe, Matt Pless, Cousin Boneless, and many more.
