Person of Interest Identified in Dover NJ Bludgeoning

This blog is dedicated to elevating musicians who are doing great things. Obviously, music is one of the driving forces behind this blog, but something equally important are the issues within our local communities. Violence comes in many nasty forms and hearing this story absolutely broke my heart. I couldn’t believe that something so heinous could happen to someone so innocent and undeserving.

On Monday, December 13th, Alfredo Vasquez a local Dover NJ cab driver picked up an unknown passenger near Tequila 55’s on E. Blackwell St in Dover. The unsuspecting victim drove the assailant nearly 1 mile to the area of Spruce St & Madison Street where Vasquez was bludgeoned with a metal object by the passenger, robbed, and left for dead. After coming to nearly 30 minutes later Vasquez called for help. Dover Police responded administering preliminary first aid on the severe injuries the cab driver sustained.

The passenger hailed the cab from the street and has not yet been identified to the public although police are investigating a person of interest. Vasquez who suffers from a physical disability was likely targeted by the assailant. A coworker at the Dover, NJ cab service said “We find ourselves very sad about this situation, because it could have been any of us”.

I was completely appalled that someone would do such a horrific thing to another human being and as someone who has personally had a driving job in Dover NJ, this story hit very close to home. Alfredo Vasquez is an honest hardworking father who did not deserve this terrible injustice. Please donate to the gofundme campaign as this will be a long road to recovery for Mr. Vasquez.
