Basic Television – Musician Spotlight – Mad Indie Media

New York City-based electronic-rock band Basic Television has recently put out their debut release, a 3 track ep entitled “One”. Meshing catchy pop sensibilities with a dark electronic edge Basic Television delivers a fervent combination of unique sounds ranging from dreamy to industrial. Their synth-centric style perfectly blends elements of pop, darkwave, glitch, and electronic dance music.

Emerging from quarantine with their initial release the NYC band has been setting the stage for what is to follow. Offering a synth-driven sounds similar to great bands such as Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk, Basic Television breathes new life into a retro sound. Their brand of dark electronic music is an alluring mixture of classic pop sounds, synth trills, harmonious vocal lines, and steady, slamming beats. 

Combining sounds such as vocal pop hooks with contrasting edgy synth and drum lines Basic Television offers an exhilarating dream-like sound that any synth-pop/darkwave listener can enjoy. Along with the release was a video series which includes a video for their song Creeper. Basic Television offers a sounds that is equally danceable as it is industrial. The trio from NYC presents a distinguished sound that is captivating and as trance/dreamlike as it is invigorating. 

Basic Television is comprised of multi-instrumentalist vocalists/producers Roma and Suzie. Roma & Suzie met online and bonded immediately over their love of electronic music and realized each of them had significant experiences in the US and European alternative music scenes. Jason Crawford completed the band’s line-up, bringing with him unique and extensive experience as a drummer in the NYC hardcore scene.
