Volt of Vultures: A 3 year anniversary celebration
|Volt of Vultures: A 3 year anniversary celebration of the beloved music venue & dive bar.
Vultures in Colorado Springs is a fan favorite music venue/dive bar; winning “best of Colorado Springs” by CS Indy placing spots in multiple categories and earning gold in Neighborhood Bar East as well as bronze for both the best place for comedy, and the best dive bar.
In short, we agree.
Established in 2021, Vultures is a home for many musicians and comedians alike. The creative hub is located in the Knobhill section of Colorado Springs, but draws musicians and music fans from all over the nation.
The vibrant community budding with music and art is a local favorite and a coveted place to play for touring musicians.
Volt of Vultures: The 3rd anniversary of the beloved dive bar hosted 2 dozen Colorado based bands over the weekend-long event.
The celebration took place each night over the first weekend of November directly following Vultures Halloween cover set show.
The weekend spanning events saw artists such as: Solar Point, Glitterporn, Sponge Cake, Same Dude, RV Bomb and many more.
We were able to be onsite most of the weekend and spoke to many of the bands featured at this event. Check out our YouTube channel for plenty of band interviews.
But musicians, or rather, not JUST musicians, also spoke with us. We were able to chat with some of the life force behind Vultures.
General manager Zane McLean, Open mic host Joe Bruno, and bartender Evan Courtland all shared their experience working with the venue/dive bar.
Zane Mclean | General Manager at Vultures
Zane is no stranger to the Colorado Springs music scene, having played in the band Sponge Cake and even running a now defunct venue named Dog Haus.
After the closure of Dog Haus Zane found a new space to thrive at Vultures. Responsibilities of the General Manager at Vultures include things like booking the bands and range to other things such as bartending and of course setting up those annoying barricades.
Jokes aside, Zane enjoys the various job duties and experiences that led him there.
Joe Bruno | Open Mic Host at Vultures
Joe Bruno is a familiar face around Vultures; hosting the open mic on Monday nights. He is a regular amongst the Colorado Springs comedy scene, or as they say in the business a “total crusher”.
Aside from hosting the open mic and telling comedy all over Colorado, Joe is also a musician playing in the band, Same Dude.
The Vultures open mic which takes place most Mondays (unless a show is booked) is a well attended open mic with sign ups beginning around 6pm and the show beginning around 7:30.
Evan Courtland | Bartender
If you’ve ever stopped into the award winning venue/dive bar you may have met Evan. In addition to tending the bar during some of the many shows and events at Vultures, Evan also plays in several bands.
These bands include Same Dude, Total Cult & Clarion Void. Evan has seen his fair share of bands that have graced the stage of Vultures and subsequently has a fair share of stories.
*** Things got rowdy at Volt of Vultures and so did the video quality ***
