NEPA Horror Fest June 2022

If you are unfamiliar with the NEPA (North East Pennsylvania) scene in short we can tell you that you are in fact missing out on one of the most vibrant punk communities around. Mad Indie Media attended the NEPA Horror Fest and we were absolutely delighted in attending this collaborative event.

From the strange & macabre vendors to the brutal & bitchin’ bands and awesome attendees this event was nothing short of every horror/punk fans dream. Vendors from the area were selling everything from classic horror character masks & vintage films, original art and even hands with eyeballs in the. Yea friggen eyeballs! Aside from all of the fantastic art vendors the NEPA scene brought out some of the finest punk artists from the greater area. The music featured bands from near and far all high energy, thrashing, raging punk music. 

Mad Indie Media was lucky enough to catch performances by Teen Mortgage, Chesty Malone & the Slice ’em Ups, Skappository and many other punk oriented, ska/punk and hardcore-adjacent bands. The night ended in curated horror films and shorts. Below are a few photos we were able to capture of the event. 

Upset that you missed NEPA Horror Fest? That’s ok there is always next year… but you won’t even have to wait that long because this event will be held again this Fall! NEPA Horror Fest occurs again at Circle Drive-in In Dickson City on October 15th. Be there.

plus a cool slew of other events ran by the same purveyors and friends of those purveyors including Burning Roses Music Festival, a celebration of women in punk on July 30th from 12 PM – 8 PM in Aug Nay Park in Scranton PA.

Can’t make Burning Roses, that’s ok cause the fun doesn’t stop there head on down to the V-spot bar in Scranton any Tuesday for the NEPA scene open mic. If festivals are more your speed mark your calendars on September 9th, 10th and 11th for outdoor camping festival Camp Punksylvania featuring an entire weekend of nonstop punk music, live and in action!
