Coping With Dystopia | A Live Stream Series

Coping With Dystopia, an online music venue, has been producing a series of live stream benefit concerts to do exactly that, cope with this sudden dystopian-like quarantine that we all find ourselves in. The series features many great activist musicians like Apes of the State, Rent Strike, Rob Tax Payer, Out of System Transfer and more. Coping with Dystopia just hosted their 4th installation of live-streamed shows last night featuring Local News Legend & Crazy & The Brains amongst many other talented folks. Coping with Dystopia is dedicated to raising spirits, providing an outlet to share music and raising awareness.

The purveyors pick an organization to donate the proceeds to at each show. Each artist goes live on their respective accounts and the streams are aggregated into a singular youtube stream. Last night’s installation was a benefit for Montana Grizzly Encounter a non-profit organization founded in 2004 dedicated to rescuing Grizzly Bears from gross inhumane captive situations; Montana Grizzly Encounter is also an Education Sanctuary.

The initial Coping with Dystopia stream aired on March 20th and raised $1656.24 for Prison Policy Initiative this show featured Days N’ Daze, Matt Pless, Rent Strike and plenty of other great bands and artists. The Prison Policy Initiative is a Thinktank that uses research, advocacy and organizing to show how over-criminalization harms individuals, our communities and national well-being. Some other guests who have appeared on the Coping with Dystopia live streams have been: Tejon Street Corner Thieves, Isaac Hill, She/Her/Hers, Francie Moon, Frankly Lost and many more!

With no end to the quarantine in sight we have no doubt that we will continue to see this series thrive.
