Sponge Cake Interview
|Sponge Cake the locally prolific punk band hailing from Colorado Springs, Colorado has quite the reputation amongst the Colorado Springs music scene.
Known for their high energy performances and visceral stage presence Sponge Cake knows how to work a crowd.
Singer Lie Brooks often engages the audience physically by entering the crowd mid performance and dancing alongside the clamouring punks.
Putting out a single earlier this year entitled Local Bondage, Sponge Cake has had a bit of a hiatus period with their performance at Volt of Vultures being a reunion show for the band.
While Sponge Cake hinted at having a considerable amount of unrecorded/unreleased material It’s unclear what the future holds for the band. If you missed Volt of Vultures, know that you missed a truly special performance.
Practicing only a handful of times since their last gig about a year prior; Sponge Cake brought the energy to Vultures on Saturday November 2nd.
Even getting in a quick impromptu practice in the parking lot outside Sponge Cake put on a hell of a performance.
If you missed this, you also missed guitarist Zane wearing some provocative fishnets.
So the moral of the story is next time you hear about them playing a show you don’t think about it, you simply go.
Sponge Cake tore up the dance floor during their performance at the Volt of Vultures on Saturday November 2nd, adding their stamp on a busy day 2.
Vultures is located at 2100 E Platte Avenue in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Check an upcoming show soon.
