Reese Van Riper – Clown Walk – Music Video of the Month

The March 2022 music video of the month comes from NJ’s own Swamp Rock artist Reese Van Riper. Yea, Swamp Rock; a few listens into their discography and you will understand how fitting of a name this is. Reese Van Riper writes dark and macabre songs often in a waltz format which often makes listeners’ skin crawl in the best way possible. Clown Walk is a creepy, trancey, bluesy, cathartic, operatic, and carnivalesque song on its own the thematic, lucid, and eerily choreographed music video is a match all too fitting. 

The music video was directed & edited by Arielle Paredes features spooky imagery that perfectly compliments the timbre of this song. The video opens with a shot of a typewriter, the carriage is being set and the paper begins to be damped with ink (which is scary as shit everyone knows typewriters are haunted).

 Our March music video of the month Clown Walk by Reese Van Riper was filmed at Prototype 237, a co-working space for music, performance, and art in Paterson, N.J. The video features the talents of @CircaSays, @CherryVonTease & @TheHolyCake dancing, and captivating choreography. The video was produced by Neil Ghazaii (@sleepdreamingawake ) & Matthew Zeitoun. 

We recently had the pleasure of catching Papa Reese of Reese Van Riper, play an intimate solo set at the Lawrence Lounge in Yulan, NY. Reese accompanied by Love’s Over Rated and Ten Ton Mojo (purveyors of Wheelie Fest) played to the packed crowd inside the busting Lawrence Lounge. 

Catch Reese Van Riper on March 26th at Stosh’s Fairlawn, NJ. Also playing will be The Extensions, Ed Bersano, Underlined Passages & Gene Wilder’s Vacation. The show begins at 8 and is 21+.
