Black Flag Performs My War at Sunshine Studios Live

Black Flag performed “My War” in its entirety to a lively crowd both young and old at Sunshine Studios Live in Colorado Springs, Colorado on March 12th 2024. Black Flag the iconic punk band which was established by founding and only consistent member, Greg Ginn in 1976 and is still touring nearly 50 years later.

Unbeknownst to some Black Flag had a significant following prior to Henry Rollins joining the band. However many would argue Black Flag truly rose to super star level under Rollins tenure from 1981-1985. The band has gone through many changes in its line-up, break-ups, reunions, and even legal battles. Despite the many changes to the band it’s self one thing remains the same, the music.

The band is now on their 5th singer, skateboarding legend, Mike Vallely. Mike V brings the high-level energy that is expected from Black Flag and his performance at Sunshine Studio on 3/12/24 did not disappoint. Singing with rage as the band plays perfectly Black Flag is as new as ever. The stage presence of Mike V is a force to be reckoned with; after-all he is that guy who beat up 4 dudes at once for calling him a slur.

After playing “My War” from front to Back the band returned to the stage to play a set of hit songs including “TV Party”, “Six Pack”, and of course, “Rise Above”. The band played for hours to a packed crowd of varying age. It didn’t matter if you were a fan since the 70’s, found Black Flag through skateboarding video games or simply showed up to see what was going on at Sunshine Studios Live that night. The crowd was aggressive and energetic, yet kind, remember if someone falls down, in the pit or in life, you pick them up.
