|That’s right you heard correctly A Great Big Pile of Leaves is coming out with a new album. The latest by the greatest, A Great Big Pile of Leaves is an absolute banger. Beat Up Shoes via Topshelf Records (Standards, Elephant Gym, Giraffes? Giraffes!) delivers that classic AGPOL sound we know and love and have been craving since their 2013 LP You’re Always on my Mind. Fans have been waiting nearly 8 years for new music and it’s finally here.
Utilizing similar tones we have heard in previous albums such as Have You Seen my Prefrontal Cortex?, the new single Beat Up Shoes, is a good indicator of what’s to come. The new album entitled Pono will be released Friday, August 13th, you can pre-save the song on Spotify or preorder a physical copy (Vinyl, Cassette & CD) from Topshelf Records.
The song makes great use of space stopping and starting with rhythmic dynamics, warm vocals, and flowy riffing guitar licks. The pauses make each drop that much sweeter. We are very excited to hear what is to come this August.
The Brooklyn-based A Great Big Pile of Leaves have created a cult following for themselves gaining substantial notoriety after their 2010 release Have You Seen My Prefrontal Cortex? which features songs such as We Don’t Need our Heads & Alligator Bop.
If you haven’t taken an intro to Psychology class the Prefrontal Cortex is located in the frontal lobe which is responsible for higher executive function. The Prefrontal Cortex is the area of the brain that is responsible for planning for the future and plays an important impact on the development of personality.
After playing regional shows and eventually announcing a departure from music the band amassed a large following of dedicated music fans who have been patiently waiting for new music. This anticipated release, Pono is out everywhere on August 13th, preorder the music from Top Shelf Records.
