WFMU 2024 Fundraising Marathon has Begun

It’s the 2024 WFMU marathon! Time to find your giving spirit and fund one of, if not the greatest music resources of all time and undoubtedly the greatest radio station in the galaxy. It’s easy for someone to look at WFMU at surface level and think “this is too weird for me”.

It’s not exactly uncommon to hear a DJ fiddle with equipment, dead air, covers you wish you hadn’t heard, covers you’re glad you did. The station offers a variety of shows, there’s something for everyone. There’s shows where you can find your new favorite underground artist, an epic morning drive-time show, call in talk-radio, shows about how tech will destroy us all, and shows about…I don’t know …shrieking? …chanting? It depends on when you tune in!

All these quirks add to the WFMU charm that fans love. They love it so much that the entire station is 100% listener sponsored. That’s right, 0 commercials, 0 underwriting, simply unperturbed freeform radio. WFMU holds their annual fundraiser for 2 weeks each March; and while you may be accustomed to other (boring) radio stations droning on and on about how they need your money only so you can hear the same music found on every other station, WFMU is simply different.

WFMU brings some of the most exciting radio during it’s annual marathon. Fans favorite DJs team up and give away prizes while raising funds so the folks at the magic factory can continue providing us with amazing freeform radio.
