Teen Mortgage Interview | Die Spitz | Gunk

Teen Mortgage the power thrash punk duo from Washington DC visited Vultures in Colorado Springs on their co-headlining tour with Die Spits. Teen Mortgage has been making a lot of waves in the DIY circuit for several years now, touring extensively. Gaining a lot of notoriety as of late, Teen Mortgage packs a huge heavy sound in their 2 person set up.

After they complete this tour Teen Mortgage will be jumping across the pond and playing a few shows with two bands you’ve probably never heard of; Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer. That’s right this truly dynamic duo will be opening some shows for the gargantuan high-profile bands.

Known for their thrash style heavy punk music the duo is well known in the national touring circuit. Playing a variety of shows of the past 6/7 years, some big, some small, Teen Mortgage is becoming more and more familiar with sold out shows, merch lines, and bigger, higher-profile shows. 

Teen Mortgage from Washington D.C. is an internationally renowned band and in addition to their europe tour will be hitting the road with another heavy hitting duo, Death From Above 1979. This tour will see US dates throughout the east as well as a few shows in Canada. 

At Vultures Teen Mortgage shared the Stage with Die Spitz from Austin Texas as well as a local favorite Gunk from Colorado Springs, CO. 

Gunk, the 4-piece punk band from Colorado Springs does not mess around. Opening up the show at Vultures the locals played heavy and the crowd responded. A favorite in the Colorado Springs music scene, Gunk is known for their high-energy performances and rapid, heavy-hitting punk music. Gunk will be playing on the other side of Platte with Luna’s & Propane from Denver on May 25th at What’s Left Records. 

Die Spitz,  from Austin TX co-headlined this tour with Teen Mortage. The ultra-heavy femme band of four longtime friends love what they do and it’s very apparent in their fluid performances. Bringing the rage to the stage Die Spitz is pure energy. 

Closing out the night at Vultures Die Spitz crushed their set as the crowd crushed themselves. Co-headlining the tour had Die Spitz and Teen Mortgage switching who closes out each night and Colorado Springs was lucky enough to have Die Spitz close out a seemingly sold out show. 

Teen Mortgage has gained the attention of DIY, Brooklyn based record label King Pizza Records. King Pizza Records has assisted Teen Mortgage with merch for this tour. 

In addition to the big tours Teen Mortgage will be partaking in this summer and fall make sure you don’t miss them at their festival appearances this Summer. The Band will be playing the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento California this October. October 10th – 13th. as well as Louder Than Life fest in Kentucky this September the 26th – 29th. Aftershock & Louder than Life Festival will include such bands as Sum41, The Offspring, Saosin, Clutch, Slipknot, Slayer & Tom Morello.
