My Idiot Boy – Quintessential Motion – Musician Spotlight

My Idiot Boy is the NYC-based ambient atmospheric project most recently recording a new song, Quintessential Motion with DFX Live in Wharton NJ. Quintessential Motion, featuring Ryan Grasso, begins with a slow cascading chill ambient delayed piano melody with drums beats added subtly and slowly…at first. When the beat drops the drumming patterns come to life in rhythmically sound intricacy. 

My Idiot Boy got its start as an experimental adventure into mixing and meshing different styles. Blending styles such as post-rock, prog-rock & hip hop My Idiot Boy is influenced by artists such as Daft Punk, Caspian & Nine Inch Nails and continues to be influenced by many contemporary artists. 

My Idiot Boy came from humble beginnings in New York City training himself to play piano, guitar, and drums. The atmospheric sounds delivered by My Idiot Boy radiate those NYC hometown vibes especially in the song Expand; something about the mix has an urban city, bright lights, land where dreams come true feel to it.

My Idiot Boy, the project of NY native, San Diego-based artist, Luis Frost. Luis was surfing the web when he found a beat posted on social media by Ryan Grasso. Frost created a song centered around that beat which led to the pair working together remotely. Quintessential Motion was worked on for about the course of a year being added to by both Grasso & Frost and being sent back and forth until the duo were happy with what became this lively, ethereal track we have here today.

The track was recorded at DFX Live in Wharton NJ.
