Impossible Colors | Different Frames | Music Video of the Month
|Our November music video of the month is brought to us by NY alternative rockers Impossible Colors with their song Different Frames. Heavily influenced by 90’s indie rock the likes of Modest Mouse, Pixies, and Brand New Impossible Colors puts their own spin on a classic sound. The video released in August 2020 begins in what appears to be a man cave of sorts complete with a neon malt liquor sign and an abundance of…knives? As distorted drones grow louder and louder our protagonist sharpens his blades as a cutaway shot shows another character evading the crazed knife-wielding man whose intentions are surely sinister.
The beat builds as the maniacal blade-aficionado erratically speeds his sketchy cargo van along the road a captive prey is seen in the back, hands tied and face covered. This captured man is not the only one as our scene changes to a group bound to chairs in a garage while a second knife-man threatens and provokes the group of 4 prisoners.
One of the prisoners can be seen wearing an Atlantic City, NJ hat home of famous White House Subs. As our second knife-man sets up the stage, our original psycho begins what can only be described as some sort of sick comedy show where the only audience members are there against their will, scared confused, and completely terrified.
Undoubtedly chaos ensues as the captives are released while conflict between knifeman 1 & knifeman 2 causes the scene to erupt in a grappling match. Knifeman 1 gets a taste of his own violent medicine as knifeman 2 dominates the ground game. The 4 prisoners escapees flee gleefully along the train tracks as the track comes to a close.
Impossible Colors is a 4 piece Drinkin’ coffee, makin’ chocolate, and playin’ music band from Nyack NY. They can be found on Spotify, Facebook, Bandcamp, Instagram, and more! Different Frames can be found on their album Picture Erased which was released on March 27th, 2020. Listen to Impossible Colors on our November playlists.
